Work created in our present time, from around the 1960's up until today. Can also be used to refer to work that is current within any specific period of time.
Trends include the use of shocking materials such as bodily fluids, imitating and combining distinct styles of the past, the use of modern technology alone or along with traditional methods (digital or computer art), can also be characterized by its great variety of styles and techniques, which has stifled the development of new movements.
Contemporary art should not be confused with Modern Art, which usually refers to work created in the 1880's up until the 1970's.
