The Captain's Story
Poem
by Kevin Levy
How I've come to hunt the darkness.
I've gone away,
from my home,
in the dark
and alone,
then a light,
from far away,
warm inviting,
a place to stay.
Dreams last forever,
but only in each moment of time,
and soon darkness surrounded me,
blacking out this life of mine.
Re-kindled by yet,
another heart,
my fuse re-lit,
a new place to start.
Memories of last love,
burned away in the black,
darkness came again for my heart.
I, too far away to fight back,
My wick of life burning with undying flame,
But with a heart charred to a crisp,
I now hunt the darkness,
to stab it with every last smoky wisp.
No more will I be too far,
or too weak.
All I need,
is the darkness now I seek,
it has taken my heart,
broken my body, my mind, my soul,
My only purpose left for my life,
is to drive it back into its hole.
