Can You Hear
Poem
by Barbara Zimmerman
Can you hear snowflakes fall amid the frosty eve?
Or hear dandelions float by on a summer breeze?
Do you hear Milkweeds pop to send their seeds astray?
Or see maple seeds twirling away?
Ahhhh, to taste nectar from wild Honeysuckles under a morning sky
To watch floating leaves cascade down a mountain stream.
Can you see fairies, nymphs or tiny elves,
Sheltered in wooded glens?
Waiting to see are you foe or friend.
Did you see them dance and sing as stars came out to shine?
Their wings softly catching moonbeams
As shards of color sparkled in your dream
Listen very carefully and you may hear,
echoes of laughter in the glen
Or see dancing fireflies just around the bend.
