Forgotten
Poem
by Amanda Baxter
As a petal falls,
An other mortal is about to die,
He stays in his room and calls,
He lies in bed and cries.
His pathic life is slipping away,
Like the sands of time,
For every man has to pay,
For a life time of crime.
A dark shadow is cast amoung him,
He feels the time is soon,
The minutes are short and slim,
As I watch in the silvery light of the moon.
Then the man starts weeping,
All I can do is sit and stare,
Because death is slowly creeping,
And I know I shouldn't care.
But before I had loved this mortal soul,
I prayed to be part of his life,
But his heart was black as coal,
And his hatred cut me like a knife.
Remembering how he hurt me and others,
I turned away and ran,
To tell my older brothers,
There was another dead man!
