This is a depiction of the Norse goddess Freyja driving her cat drawn chariot in search of her husband. According to legend, she unwittingly drove him away with her own vanity when she went underground in search of jewels against his wishes.
She found a beautiful necklace but in wearing it she paid a terrible price. The curse of the necklace sent her husband back to the home of the Immortals forever and cursed her to forever weep.
When the summer rain falls, they say it is Freyja crying for her husband.
